This was a difficult case in that a relatively minor impact caused serious problems for a mother. The initial wreck was on icy roads and was a low speed impact. The daughter and father did not suffer life altering problems, but the mother experienced on-going back problems. We made sure that the mother was seen by a real patient advocate who talked her through her options for treatment and ensured she was getting the best possible car.

We sued not only the defendant for causing the wreck, but also our own client’s underinsured (insurance protection you purchase in case the other driver does not carry enough insurance coverage) insurance company, Allstate. For the mother we were able to recover the $25,000 policy limits from American Family, plus an additional $35,000 from her own carrier, Allstate. As we see more and more drivers purchase only the minimum amounts of coverage, it is even more important that Missouri drivers purchase underinsurance on all their vehicles. Many times, we can stack (or combine) multiple underinsurance policies to ensure that all of a client’s damages are fully compensated.
